MEET GENIE SOCKEL
A graduate of Yale and Georgetown, Genie Sockel is an experienced communication coach and a legal compliance trainer. Before that Genie worked as a corporate lawyer where she found financial success but wrestled with undiagnosed anxiety and depression. She left the law knowing that there were similar women and men who had climbed the ladder of success but still searched for balance and a rich and meaningful life.
Genie began to share her stories as a mother, a daughter, but mostly someone who had a new vibrant engagement in life after a nervous breakdown. She wanted to share how her breakdown became her breakthrough and she has done that in her debut memoir 5,000 Miles: You Can't Outrun Shame.
Readers of 5,000 Miles have asked for more details, tips and community. We are glad to provide that here including audio clips of Genie narrating sections of the book and audio clips of recent original songs. The Hawaiian word “Imua” means pulling together to move forward. Together we are stronger.
