The 5,000 Voices Project
For Childhood Abuse Survivors
Welcome to 5,000_Voices, which provides writing tips from a survivor to survivors of childhood abuse. I had kept childhood sexual abuse so hidden, yet it surfaced with a hospitalization in my forties. All the accomplishments I had achieved couldn’t protect me from the shame within. But I rebuilt with help and wrote about it.
Your voice is important for yourself, your relationships and, if you want, a broader audience. Please know that I am not a therapist, but as a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and recent memoirist, I know firsthand how powerful rewriting your story can be.
You will find videos here that are short and meant to offer guidance at three stages:
The beginning of writing - you’re listening to that desire to pen/type your story
The middle - you’ve been writing and may need to organize/keep momentum
The ending - some things to consider as you conclude
Âs you check out the videos, share your questions to genie@geniesockel.com or complete a contact form. New videos, perhaps your videos can be shared here.
Welcome to our community of survivors VOICING their stories.
